To sharpen the gouges, using the dry wheel, the latter must have good maintenance. On the wheel we find two stones, one coarse on one side for roughing work, on the other side we have a white aluminum oxide wheel for sharpening HSS gouges. During processing they get kneaded and lose their effectiveness and sharpness, it can still be used in these conditions, but we will not have the same results, because it will heat the gouge more quickly and violently. To revive the grinding wheel, and make it sharp again, you can use "chalks" one in aluminum bone, the other in much coarser agglomerate. To make it smooth and well polished again, we are going to use black chalk (grinding wheel reviver). After smoothing the grinding wheel with black chalk, I will restore the sharpness with a lighter or white chalk (grinding wheel cleaner).
