Protective oil for metals and in particular for HSS.

As we all know, steel being a compound based on iron and carbon (plus other alloy metals) it is subject to oxidation and rust.

This specific oil is made up of components that have two functions:

The first Dewatering is to penetrate deeply into all the micro asperities and cracks of the metal (due to processing) and combine with water (even if it were only humidity in the air) and make it evaporate.

The second is Protection, or replacing water with a layer of paraffins that can dry and protect the metal from oxidation for a long time.

This allows our object to resist and remain shiny and efficient much longer, also considering that the wood is hygroscopic (it attracts moisture) and when not seasoned it contains tannins, or acids that combined with water favor oxidation of metals.

It is used to hold pieces fixed on a spindle also from the part of the tailstock, or for perfectly centred on a piece of a non-self-centring chuck for finishing.
It is advisable to make sure that the lathe head and the tailstock are perfectly aligned, to do this you can use the double alignment cone art. 4012

Interchangeable Insert Drive Center for Lathe Chucks

This adaptor is to be mounted directly in a 4-jaw wood lathe chuck, either between its jaws or in the middle of them, on a smooth surface.

Choose the adapter size that fits your lathe chuck. This set includes an interchangeable point drive center and a 24 mm diameter 4-prong point. They can be fitted with all the other heads.

The adapter Ø 27 mm is specific to the spindles SC3, SC4 , Nova, NGz3 and SNGZ2, while the adaptor Ø 44 mm is for third-party spindles and spindles for lathes for metal

The tailstocks for wood lathe have a tailstock body formed by a Morse taper and a rotating part supported by 2 sealed prelubricated radial bearings + a thrust bearing able to support an axial thrust of 13.200N (about 1,300Kg).
Heads of various shapes are applied to this tailstock body according to the needs of the turning.
The tailstock for wood is different from that for metal, in fact in addition to the tip has a special crown that penetrates a little in the wood, compressing and supporting the piece in work by absorbing the effort of turning; the central tip can be removed, two tips can be interchanged, a shorter one that penetrates little into the wood and a long one that penetrates more compresses and compacts the wood fibers more.

The Ø 35 head can house the support ring (optional) Ø 63 and 70 mm item no. 3814 and art. 3846, while the ring art.n. 3847 can be used with the head
Ø 50 mm.

Standard equipment

The set includes a Corse Morse tailstock, tailstock-driving safety head Ø 35, Removable central tip.

It is usually inserted in the tailstock, but it can also be inserted into the spindle of the headstock, as a safety drive centre.

The latter option guarantees you safety when working, because when a catch happens, the woodpiece skids and stops rotating. It is suggested for beginners as well as for more delicate work. 8 mm diameter safety point can replace the tip of the other available inserts and is very useful for workings of small workpieces because it creates a span between tailstock and workpiece.

The Ø 8 mm head fits in place of the tip of the other heads and creates a space between the tailstock and the wood to be able to turn small diameter pieces.
The D. 24, 35 and 50 mm heads have a M16x1 threaded connection and are specific spare parts for Gamma Zinken  drive center

The wooden lathe driver consists of a Morse taper which can be 1, 2 or 3 (the most used acronyms are: CM2, MK2, MT2),

On these attachments different heads with 2, 4 prongs or of the Multipoint type are applied according to the needs of the turning.

All the heads of the Gamma Zinken drive and live centre system can be mounted on the cone-driver, spindle adapter and tailstock according to the individual need because all the accessories have the same thread M 16x1 mm
